IV - CCA & Enrichment Activities

House System
There are six Houses under the college House System, which are named after various Pioneers in their respective fields. They are Byron, Darwin, Keller, Owens, Polo and Nobel.
Byron House
Augusta Ada Byron, Countess of Lovelace (1815-1852). Wrote what was widely accepted as the first computer program.
Darwin House
Charles Robert Darwin (1809-1882). Gentleman Naturalist. Known for his evolutionary theories.

Keller House
Helen Adams Keller (1880-1968). Lost her hearing and vision. Wrote, spoke, and labored incessantly for the betterment of others.

Nobel House
Alfred Nobel (1833-1896). Dynamite inventor Left behind a nine million dollar endowment fund.
Owens House
Jesse Cleveland Owens (1913-1980). Won 4 gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
Polo House
Marco Polo (1254-1324). Most famous Westerner traveled on the Silk Road
Students are allocated a house based on their civics grouping. Competition among the six Houses will take place from the start of the academic year. The competition will include college events like Inter-House Sports and Games, Cross-Country Race, Track & Field Meet, Inter-House Games (Non-sports), etc. The overall champion in all these events will be awarded the Inter-House Challenge Trophy at the end of each year.

COLLEGE CCA POLICY

  • All students are encouraged to participate in one CCA.
  • All students are to achieve at least 80% in attendance rate.
  • Students who wish to participate in a recognized external CCA (e.g., Uniformed Groups) must participate in a college-based CCA or electives.
  • The college's designated CCA days are :
    1. Wednesday- From 3.00pm onwards
    2. Friday-From 4.00 pm onwards
  • Students are not allowed to transfer to another CCA without the prior approval of Dean Leadership Developement.
  • With the exception of CCAs that are involved in competitions or tournaments in Term 3, CCA involvement for all JC2 students will cease by the end of Term 2.

D) Student Initiated CCAs

CCA RECORDS

All involvements will be reflected in the CCA Record and School Graduation Certificate.

A. CCA Record

All involvements will be keyed in the MOE School Cockpit by CCA teachers. The CCA records will be issued to students upon graduation from the college.

B. School Graduation Certificate (SGC)

Students are to provide the CCA Achievement Remarks via the college portal in JC2. The SGC will be issued to students upon graduation from the college.
