Introduction of Life Science Programme

The LifeScience Programme aims to provide opportnities for pupils to explore, discover & investigate through acquiring techniques and undertaking basic research in plant tissue culture, genetics, food technology and biochemistry.

Rationale

The rationale of the LifeScience Programme is to allow pupils to explore activity and research opportunities in plant tissue, food technology, genetics, microbiology and biochemistry.

The easy to do fun activities are extensions from the primary syllabus into current areas of applications. They act as a platform to develop interest in the cutting edge of the area of the Life Sciences.

Long Term Goals

  • To be a Life Science Centre where school teachers and pupils can collaborate to study Food Technology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Plant Tissue Culture Technology.
Short Term Goals

  • To equip teachers and pupils with basic plant tissue culture knowledge and skills through proposed and guided activities.
  • To equip teachers and pupils with knowledge and skills to undertake independent Plant Tissue Culture Research (extension activities)
  • To source for other areas of interest in the Life Sciences field and network with the Higher Learning Institutions and Industries
  • To equip teachers and pupils with knowledge and skills of Food Technology, Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology work.
