are looking for students who are proficient in at least one of the
following areas of IT: |

| What
is the selection criteria in each of the areas? |
|
|
|
Robotics:
The applicant should demonstrate proficiency
in building a robot using Lego and programming using either Robotics
Invention System or Robolab or Mindstorms NXT Software.
A on-the-spot 90-minute test will be given to
test the applicant's ability to build and programme a Lego robot
which would need to fulfill some assign tasks set on a challenge
field. Scores would be awarded for successful completion of each
task.
The school will provide each applicant with a PC, a Lego set and
the above-mentioned software for the test. |

Computer Programming:
The applicant should demonstrate proficiency
in solving mathematical-related problems using computer programming.
A on-the-spot 90-minute test will be given to
test the applicant's ability to solve some mathematical-related
problems using either Turbo Pascal, Visual Basic, C++ or Java.
Scores would be awarded for successful solving of each problem.
The school will provide laptops, and software
for the test.

Video-making:
The applicant should demonstrate technical competency
and talent in videography and creativity in video-editing.
A on-the-spot 90-minute test will be given to
test the applicant's ability to shoot a 1-2 minute footage revolving
a theme which would only be released during the actual day of
the test. The final output should be in mov or mpeg file format
playable in QuickTime Player.
The applicant is free to bring personal digital
cameras, tripods, storage devices, microphones and any other items
to help them execute the task given. To maintain fairness in the
test, the school will have the final say of what is accepted should
there be other requests.
The applicant would do their video-editing either
on a Mac or PC platform. Digital cameras would still be provided
for the applicant if requested. The applicant would do the video-editing
on one of the following software provided by the school:

| Marks
would be awarded based on the following components: |

video continuity; |
| ·
audio and voice editing; |

lighting; |
| · camera techniques; |
| · use of media (pictures,
music, voice-over). |

Webpage Design:
The applicant should demonstrate proficiency
in the artistic, technical and presentation skills of webpage
design.
A on-the-spot 90-minute test will be given to
test the applicant's ability to develop/recreate a website revolving
a theme using any of the software that the applicant is familiar
with. In addition, the applicant would need to perform the following
tasks:

Add and design animated logos or any other appropriate animations
to make the website more lively and entertaining to surf; |
| ·
Upload the website to a given URL; |
| ·
Oral presentation of the website. |

Marks would be awarded on the artistic, technical
and presentation quality of the submitted website.
The applicant is provided with a PC preloaded
with Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium.

Alternatively, the form can also be collected from the school
at its General Office. The school is located at No. 5 Jurong West
St 41 Singapore 649410.
Please note that students currently not studying
in our national schools will require a letter issued by MOE
HQ before they are issued with a DSA Application Form.

| What
information do I need to submit together with my application form?
(e.g. portfolio, list of achievements, photocopy of report card) |

The applicant should indicate the list of achievements
clearly in the application form. The applicant would need to submit
the application form and testimonial from relevant organisation
or personnel.
A certified photocopy of the certificate of achievements
(where available) and report book indicating the applicant's past
academic results should be submitted. The applicant must bring
the original copy of all the certificates and documents submitted
on the actual day of the test for verification.

| When
is the closing date for submitting the application form?
|
| |
| The
form should be personally submitted to the school by 7 July 2008. |
| |

| After
I have submitted the application form, when will I know if I have
been short listed for the trials/tests? |
| |
| The
applicant would be informed by 10 July 2008 if he/she is
short listed for the test. |
| |
| |
| When
are the trials/tests/interviews? |
| |
| The
test would be conducted on 12 July 2008 (Saturday) at 9
am in Computer Lab 3 or 4. The applicant must report at least
30 minutes before the stipulated time in school uniform and bring
along his/her ezlink/birth certificate/passport for identification
and other relevant documents. An interview may be arranged for selected
applicants on 19 July 2008 (Saturday) at 9 am. |

| When
will I know if I have been selected? |
| |
| The
applicant would be informed of the outcome of the trials/tests/interviews
by 29 August 2008. |
