Arts & Crafts Department  -2007

Highlights of Events

Our  pupils participated in the 2007 Singapore Youth Festival  Visual Arts Competition.  2 of our entries, “ The Monkey King” and “ Colourful Masks”   drawn by the P 1 – P3 pupils were short-listed for the finals.

The school has engaged an external Art teacher to teach our P1 – P5 pupils the different medium in drawing and painting .  This programme  aims  to expose our pupils to a wider scope of Artwork. The programme will start in Term 3.

The S2 Cluster Arts learning Festival was held on 31 March at Crescent Girls’ School. Pupils from the Art Club spent a fruitful morning learning  “ Balloon Sculpture” and basic skills in “ Pastry making”.

P1 & P2 : Art Enrichment Programme on “ Hand – Building”

P3 : Chinese Brush Painting ( Basic Course)

P4 : Chinese Brush Painting ( Intermediate Course)

P5 : Visit Singapore Art Museum (SAM) to learn Art Appreciation.

P6:  Pupils  visit “ Dragon Kiln”  to learn  pottery making.

Learning Festival at Crescent Girls' School

Music Department

Vision

To enable every pupils to learn and grow with music.  

Curriculum Focus

Our curriculum focus is on singing. In line with  'Teach less Learn more', we want our pupils to create their own Music with the use of percussion instruments. We have planned our lessons in such a way that each term the pupils will be focused on 1 theme. This is how we carry out our Music lessons termly :

Term 1 : Singing with Use of percussion instruments

Pupils will sing songs as they play the percussion instruments such as hand-bells, maracus etc. 

Term 2 : Songs from other Countries

In- line with the 'International Friendship Day', pupils will sing songs from all over world

Term 3 : Local Songs

In-line with National Day, pupils will sing National Day songs.

Term 4 : Popular Children songs

Achievement

The school choir has been awarded a Bronze award at the Singapore Youth Festival 2006 - Central Judging of Choirs for primary schools

·        Dental talk by school dental nurse for Primary 1 and 2 pupils.

             ·        Assembly talk on Myopia – to raise awareness of the problems of 

                   myopia and to encourage pupils to practise good eye care habits
