    3. Immersion Programme 北京教育与文化浸濡课程

        17 pupils with 2 teachers and our Principal ,went to

      Beijing for Chinese Language and Culture 

        Immersion Tour during the March Holiday .

Outside the school we visited for 3 days consecutively. Our students had the privilege of having lessons there and they made a number of friends. Some of them even cried when they said goodbye to one another on the last day. Apart from having lessons in school, the children went sightseeing in Beijing too - Learning about china, The Great Wall of China and The Forbidden City.

 

4.   Mother Tongue 3-in-1 母语三合一

   *MT3 Project( Charts consist of pictures and the 3 Mother Tongue Languages are put up at the school tuck shop to enhance pupils’ Mother Tongue Spoken Language abilities by empowering their vocabularies)

 

     5.  Collaboration Project 协作计划

     *Term 2In line with the school Language Week, 

        Officer of Queenstown  Library conducted a story 

        telling session for Primary 2 and  Primary 4 pupils in 

        school.

     *Term 3Primary 2 Story Telling Session At 

        Queenstown Library by the Librarian.

      *Term 4  Story Telling Session  at  the Queenstown 

        Library by Pupils of P6 Higher  Chinese Language 

        Class.

Our Reading Programme
Objective:
  º We aim to encourage students to read and widen their vocabulary skills
Strategies:
bulletStudents are to read at least two books a month.  
bulletStudents to write book review from one of the books read monthly  .
bulletTo record the title of every book read in the record sheet.
bulletML teachers will check the book review files monthly.

Updates:  

bulletLibrary picnics were introduced to every Primary 1 - Primary 4.
bulletLibrary picnics are done on every last week of the month.
bulletPrimary 1 - Primary 2 students were brought to the Jurong Bird Park as part of their experiential learning journey.

The TL Department had a fruitful year. Pupils were exposed to a wide range of activities which were enriching. The activities are as follows :-

 

1.     TL pupils from P1– P6 took part in the online quiz organized by the ETD. All the pupils won tokens. ( it is ongoing )

 

2.     Pupils attended a 2hrs workshop for 4 days whereby the learnt to design individual webpage in Tamil. ( it is ongoing )

 

3.     Our pupils also participated in external competitions :-

Sonali of P4 participated in a General Knowledge quiz while

Ramkesh of P6 participated in a Role play competition.

 

4.     Our pupils also participated in internal competitions and won prizes:-

P1 – Role play

P4 – Characterization of storybook characters.

P5/P6 – Essay writing

P6EM3 – Creating Auto shapes

 

5.     On Racial Harmony Day our Tamil pupils visited the cultural village set up at Fairfield Methodist Primary School . They also participated in the concert in conjunction with the celebrations.

 

6.     Our TL pupils took part in a half a day Language Camp organized by the S2 Cluster. In the camp our pupils learnt the art of Garland making and Kolam Drawing. They also visited the Herbal garden where they got to know about the different herbs. The pupils also tried their hands on playing the different classical musical instruments. At the end of the camp pupils watched a video clip on the life of a well known Indian poet. As a follow up activity pupils were given a quiz based on what they learnt at the camp. Our pupils won prizes for the quiz.

TLLM for Primary 1 Tamil Language pupils

These pictures show the pupils forming the shapes of the objects they learnt. Plasticine was used to form the shapes whilst the names of the objects were formed using saga seeds. The pupils enjoyed forming the shapes of the objects.
