The
Discipline and Pupil Welfare Department embodies the Pastoral Care and
Counselling Section. The department is currently under a committee of four
teachers and four teams- namely the prefects, public address system
monitors, road-crossing monitors and class monitors.
The prefects are under the guidance and supervision of the P6 Head and
Assistant–Head prefects constantly. The class-monitors are briefed on
the maintenance of classroom discipline regularly by the Discipline
Master. These pupils assume leadership roles in assisting the HODs and
teachers to promote good discipline among the pupils of the school.

P5 & 4 Leadership Training
A six and half hour workshop on Basic Leadership Skills over two days
brought the pupils through Leadership, Organising and Communication
Skills. The training enlightened the pupils on the importance of teamwork
and their role as effective student leaders in school.

Prefects'
Investiture
The school holds its Prefects'
Investiture on March annually. The prefects pledged to carry out
their duties faithfully, fairly and diligently. The investiture is
witnessed by the whole school and officiated by the principal who praise
the prefects for their dedicated contributions to the school.

Termly Best Pupil Award Per Class
The Civics & Moral Education Committee works hand in hand with the
teachers in selecting the best pupils from each class on a termly basis.

Term 2
Pastoral Care
There is a comprehensive range of programmes to cater to the needs of
pupils. Pupils who are neglected or under-performing in their daily work
are counselled by their teachers, who will often communicate with parents
to work out the best course of action to take to help the child improve.
Latch-key and lack of home support pupils are selected
by the teachers for ‘The Sunshine Programme’. Here, these pupils are
given a place where they can do their assignments and projects or
self-study under the supervision of a teacher or parent volunteer.
Pupils who constantly exhibit poor behavioural conduct are referred to the
teacher-counsellors. If necessary, the assistance of the
School Counsellor and Educational Child Psychologist may be sought.
Financial
assistance is given to needy pupils.

Road
Safety
All P5 pupils must participate in the road safety lesson at the East Coast
Road Safety Park so that they are familiar with the rules and regulations
and apply this life-skill in their daily-life for their personal as well
as others safety.
Inter-disciplinary Project Work (IPW)
Primary
Three to Primary Five pupils are involved in the IPW. Each level chose to
work on an area of interest. The pupils had to work on a project which
incorporates most of the subjects.
Primary Three – Hydroponic
Tomatoes
Each pupil
planted a tomato seed in March 2007. They realised that they can also grow
a plant without using any soil. The pupils monitored and charted the
growth of the plants. Then, they did a project either in the form of
scrapbook or Powerpoint. They discussed the different types of tomatoes,
the lifecycle of tomatoes and even contributed recipes for a tomato dish.

given a briefing by the Waterways Watch on water pollution and
the importance of keeping our waterways clean. Then, the pupils were
involved in the cleaning of the river. They picked up all the rubbish and
even weighed them to find out how much rubbish were collected. They pupils
did a chart on the amount and types of rubbish they collected.
