Jurong West Secondary School functioned at the old Boon Lay Secondary premises along
Jalan Boon Lay from January 2nd 2001 until it moved to its new present premises
at 6, Jurong West St 65 on 18th March 2002.
The new 3.1 hectare premises, built at the cost of $20 million, includes state of
the art facilities such as IT learning resource rooms, an astro-turf hockey pitch,
a full size soccer field and amphitheatre facilities. As part of our emphasis on
academic excellence, all our blocks are named after Noble prize winners. One such
instance is the Hans Fischer block which is named after the Noble prize winner Hans
Fischer for his great contributions in Chemistry.
The $60,00 Cybercafe was set up in May 2002 to ensure
that all JWSS pupils have access to the Internet. The system advanced technolgy
of wireless Internet setup, a system of high speed Internet router and latest model
of laptop. The open concept of the cafe ensures a friendly and cozy net surfing
environment.
