Overview

The Mathematics department is truly blessed with a team of positive staff who believes in life-long learning. They constantly upgrade themselves and share freely their knowledge and experience with each other during the scheduled Department sharing and informal settings.

The Department motto, "Happy teachers working harmoniously towards excellence in Mathematics" embodies our strong belief in working harmoniously and collaboratively to achieve our goal. To encourage all students to excel to his Best (Excellence in all endeavours), there's a "Best Improvement Award in Mathematics and Additional Mathematics" for all classes.

We strive to nurture our students' interest and ability in Mathematics in a safe and simulating Learning Environment.

Programmes and Activities

There is a wide and varied activities organized ranging from Mathematics Bridging Course to Olympiad Training.

Some of the activities participated by the students are:

• Singapore Secondary School Mathematics Olympiad
• Australian Mathematics Competition
• Kent Ridge Trail (collaborative event organized by all departments of Kent Ridge Secondary School)
• Algebra Bridging course for S1E/NA, S2E and S3E
• Cluster Activities

Collaborations

• Peer Tutoring-Collaborative effort with West Coast CC & Hwa Chong Institution
• Collaboration with NIE to develop strategies to teach NT students

• Singapore Maths Olympiad - 3 Bronze & 3 Honourable Mentions
• Multi Disciplinary Engineering Game Show at 2006 Maths Carnival organized by Ngee Ann Polytechnic - CHAMPIONS
• S2 Cluster Trail - 1st and 3rd

2005

• Singapore Maths Olympiad - 2 Bronze
• Maths Cluster Day, Mind Games - Overall Prize Winner
