Dear Parents,
Welcome
back to a new school year!
2007 promises to be an exciting year, as we will be
celebrating the school’s 90th anniversary! It is also
timely to embark on the next 90 years of our school
history with a new school mission and vision, which
we have crafted with inputs and feedback from our pupils,
the alumni, the school management committee and most
importantly, from you, our parents and partners in our
pupil’s education.
New School
Vision and Mission
The overriding feedback gathered during our envisioning
exercise, is the need to continue our strong focus in
“Character Development” and “Chinese Culture”. Taking
these into account, we have crafted our new school vision
and mission to define Nan Hua Primary as a “school of
distinction”, providing distinctive and quality holistic
education for all, with “emphasis on values and Chinese
Culture”.
We want to uphold
this unique culture and continue to build the strong
Nan Hua spirit and identity. As such, at the beginning
of the school year, the pupils recited “My Promise”,
which serves to remind them of the importance of respecting
their teachers, elders and each other. Through the pledge,
we also want to instil a sense of pride in the school
-- an important component of a lasting and strong school
spirit.
Enabling
a Healthy and Happy School Life through Interaction
Besides strengthening our focus on the Chinese Culture,
this year, we also want to continue creating an environment
where students can have a happy school life, through
meaningful interaction with their classmates. As part
of this initiative, despite being a SAP school, we are
increasing the opportunities for inter-racial interaction
by accepting a few non Chinese pupils into our 2007
Primary 1 cohort. All of them will be taking Higher
Chinese classes, just like the rest of their classmates.
The importance
of creating a healthy environment for interaction amongst
our students also extends to the Primary 4 level, where
the GEP program is first offered. We have taken steps
to enhance this by offering the revolutionary “twinning
classes”. Besides enabling our mainstream students to
benefit from the rigours of the GEP program, this will
also provide mainstream students to learn alongside
with the GEP students.
90th
Anniversary Celebrations
The main highlight of our 2007 school calendar will
be our 90th anniversary celebrations. The 3 main features
of the celebrations will be the Souvenir Magazine, the
School Musical and the grand finale, our 90th Anniversary
and Homecoming Dinner.
With so many significant
moments, we believe this year will be a momentous one
– where the great traditions and foundations of our
school that have been laid down through the years will
be further strengthened. We appeal to all of you to
participate actively in these upcoming events and welcome
all your well wishes and support! Do look out for more
details in our upcoming communications. With the Lunar
New Year coming up, here’s wishing you a very prosperous,
healthy and wonderful year ahead!
