Innovation and Enterprise 2006

Outram’s Innovation and Enterprise Programme is based on the school’s Strategic Thrust of Talent Development. We believe that every Outramian is talented and can be developed to the best of his or her abilities. The programme, therefore, aims to develop purposeful, innovative and enterprising Outramians through:
Customised I and E Programmes through Secondary One to Three
The E Café
Participation in competitions, seminars and workshops
A Foundation in I&E
Every Outramian will be equipped with the basic life skills of innovation and enterprise, and financial literacy. This strong spirit of I&E in turn develops strength of character so that Outramians can deal with and respond positively to changes in our society and country.
 |
The Secondary One Innovation Programme teaches a set of problem solving and innovation skills within the context of a real-life situation. Outramians can make use of these skills in Project Work, within the formal curriculum and even in their daily lives. |
 |
The Secondary Two Entrepreneurship Programme uses the skills taught in Secondary One to help Outramians develop business plans and business presentations. It also covers market research and marketing strategies to give an overview of entrepreneurship. Projects undertaken can be either social or business in nature and pupils get hands-on practice in developing a business idea. |
 |
The Secondary Three Financial Awareness Programme imparts an awareness of personal financial management and various financial instruments through games and other interactive activities. |
Developing Talents
Outramians with an interest in these areas have the option to take part in a wide range of additional activities. These include:
Running the first E Café within the school
Participating in competitions and programmes organised by the various polytechnics, CDCs, and other institutions
Contributing to the school through InnoWITs (School Improvement)
Taking the LCCI Level One and Two examinations to achieve a professional accounting certification
The Future
With our Programme in place for 2006, we hope to develop a set of I&E values – Strength of Character, Passion, Intellectual Curiosity, Resilience, Ingenuity and Tenacity* in each and every Outramian. These will put him or her in good stead to take Singapore to the next stage of development as a society and economy.
With I&E as the basis, Outram will also continue to develop its niche in business education and enterprise.
*Outram’s Values: SPIRIT - Sense of Belonging, Perseverance, Integrity, Responsibility, Industriousness, Teamwork
