MRL- MEDIA RESOURCE LIBRARY

Objectives
Our objectives are to instil in our Anthonians the love for books and reading so that they will become independent learners and researchers.

Brief Description
The media resource library is located on the 4th level of the main school building. It is air-conditioned. The library is mend by two teachers, a school librarian (Miss Halima) and Anthonian librarians. Parent volunteers are always welcome to help.
The library is decorated and painted with a farm theme to improve the ambience. The theme adds a unique touch to the library and to the school environment. New books are also purchased to replenish the condemned books.

Activities(School)
1. In January we have invited Readers’ House to conduct an assembly programme for both upper and lower primary. The assembly programme is entitled Geronimo Stilton Goes To School With Readers House. In March, we are having the MRL week where school based library activities will be held and collaboration with National Library Board to hold Mass Borrowing programmed. In April, we will be having the Famous Author Week for semester 1. The pupils will be exposed to the author and his books. Many activities will be conducted during that week. All the activities are to inculcate the love of reading to our Anthonians. There will be powerpoint presentation, video and movies presentation and book fairs. The Anthonians got to choose books for the library. There will be another Famous Author Week in July in semester 2. Mass Borrowing will be held 4 times a year.
2. Monthly monitoring of readership records and sharing them with Anthonians during assembly for the month of February to October. Prizes and certificates are awarded to the highest number of books read for both individuals and classes from Primary 1 to Primary 6. Reader Badges will be awarded to Anthonians who have read a certain number of books for each term.
3. Other activities such as termly bookfairs, quizzes and creating and colouring of bookmarks are organised throughout the year.

Activities (CCD)
1. The librarians are taught the skills to identify the different types of books, rules and regulations of the library, using the spydus system, organised library events and many other books related activities and skills.
2. During the June holiday, the librarians will go to one of the National Library Board for a visit. The trip promises an enriching insight of NLB.

Targeted
Media Resource Library is targeted to all Anthonians and staff.
CCD is targeted to Primary 1 to Primary 6.

Monday to Thursday, 8.00 am – 5.30 pm
Friday, 8.30 am – 5pm
Lunch Break, 12.30pm – 1.15pm

CCD Day and Time of Meeting
Everyday 10.30 am – 12.00pm and 1.30pm - 3.30pm
