Objectives :

To help and motivate weak and reluctant readers.

Brief Description :

Various story-telling strategies are used to help and motivate weak and reluctant readers.

Targets:

1. To introduce readers to the joys of literature and hook them to
books.
2. To enlarge the pupils' vocabulary and also to enable them to
use the words they have learnt.
3. To build up a store of background information essential for
reading comprehension.

Activities :

Anthonians are introduced to different genres of books through fun and play. Pupils are encouraged to read and discuss vocabulary used in small groups.

Targeted Level :

Primary 3 to Primary 5 weak and reluctant readers.

Day and Time of Meeting:

Fridays, 1.30-3.00 p.m.

Additional Information:

A pre-test and a post-test are administered to check pupils' progress.
