PROGRAMMES
P1-P4
READ ‘N’ REAP GUIDED READING PROGRAMME
As
part of our continuing efforts to improve our
pupils’ grasp of the English Language, the
school has embarked on a Structured Reading Programme
to be conducted under the supervision of the school’s
English Language teachers during curriculum time.
This
guided reading programme aims to improve the child’s
reading and critical thinking skills, vocabulary,
grammar and comprehension. It also exposes the
child to the reading of various genre and text
types, which is in line with the new English Syllabus.
A
series of books is selected for the reading programme
and these books are pitched at the pupil’s
instructional level. Each pupil will hold a title
for duration of 2 weeks. The series of books used
will be rotated amongst the classes within their
level and at the end of the implementation of
the programme, each child will bring home a few
books to keep.
